Imhoff Farm | Cheese Making and Tasting | Kommetjie (on the Cape Peninsula)
At Imhoff Farm in Kommetjie, cheese is handmade from goat’s milk. The Saanen, British Alpine and Toggenburg goats are raised right on the farm. The cheese is completely free of colorants and preservatives. Guests can sample the cheeses at the Free Range Farm Shop at Imhoff farm.
Also made from the goats milk is cream cheese, feta, Gouda, cheddar and yoghurt. Imhoff’s delectable fynbos cheese is made from cow’s milk and adds to a further selection of cow’s milk cheeses, some of which are infused with herbs and spices.

More About Artisan Cheese Making at Imhoff Farm
- The goats are milked daily at 4pm right next to the dairy.
- All the cheeses are prepared on location.
- The goats are not milked during the months of June and July when they are pregnant.
- When kids arrive around August they are left with their mothers in a paddock next to the dairy.
- The cow milk is provided by a herd of Friesland, Jersey and Ayershire cows from a neighboring farm.
