The non profit organization ‘Cape Town Pride’ has become a regular on the Cape Town events calendar. In 2013 it entered its 13th year as a Cape Town festival. It is a celebration of diversity and awareness for the LGBT community. Every year the organization arranges a variety of fun and exciting events such as the Pride Film Premier, parties, workshops, book sales, sunset beach picnics and pageants. The festival is run completely by volunteers.

Hands on Harvest Festival

FEBRUARY CALENDAR

Where: Robertson, Western Cape Winelands
When: 3rd week of February

At this festival anyone can experience what it means to be a wine maker. The event provides activities to small groups of individuals that starts with actual grape picking all the way to wine blending and tasting. It is an incredible experience for any budding wine maker or enthusiast looking for some insight into the details involved in wine making.

The various activities are hosted by participating Robertson valley estates and must be booked separately with each of the estates.

Annual tourism activities will continue during the festival, adding variety to the visit and fun for the whole family. You can also enjoy olive tours, 4x4 routes, river cruises and rafting, skydiving, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, golf and more.

Nederberg Harvest Day

Nederberg Estate has set aside one day where visitors can join in on the harvest. It all starts with picking the grapes followed by a grape stomping adventure and ends with a barbecue in the garden and live music.

It is not all fun and games; the Nederberg pickers are on hand to teach participants which bunches of ripe enough for picking, offering guidance throughout the event. It is quite an amazing feeling to know that the juice of the grapes you helped to pick will one day be enjoyed as a wine.

During the festival the very fine Weisser/Rhine Rieslings are paired with delicious food that complements the wine perfectly.
