To think of Lourensford wine estate as simply a wine estate falls far short of the array of food and attractions that one can find on the farm. It has hosted music festivals, it hosts the finish line for the Cape Epic Mountain Bike Race, it has a wine village, fruit plantations,coffee roastery, cheesery and restaurant. Lourensford also offers fly fishing and is home to bee hives.
The cheese and wine pairing / tasting is held at the cheesery located on the estate. Nougat and wine pairing is also offered at the estate.

- Children are very welcome on the estate. There is a playground and toys are set out for the kids.
- Erinvale Golf Estate is right next door.
- The restaurant is a non smoking venue.
- The wine tasting room is open from 9:30am to 5pm
- Wine tasting (of 5 wines) carries a fee unless wine is purchased then the tasting is free
- The bees on this estate are just as important. They provide the honey used to make the Lourensford honey liqueur.

Olive and Wine Pairing
Morgenster Estate | Somerset West
First established over 300 years ago in 1711, Morgenster is a blend of stunning scenery, historic Cape Dutch architecture and world class wines. The manor house is recognised as one of the great houses of the Western Cape.
Food and wine pairing is so much more than just saying, “..white wine with fish and red wine with red meat…”. Many different food flavors can enhance the experience of a glass of wine. Olives are just one of these flavors. At the Morgenster Estate, guests can not only taste the Morgenster wine but also its award wining olive oil.
The estate specialises in four red wine cultivars and their forte is in blending these to produce their unique red wines.
Morgenster Olive Farm
- Morgenster Olive farm produced the first South African Olive oil to win the Orciolo d’Oro award.
- Owner Giulio Bertrand imported 2000 olive trees from Italy to start his Olive groves.
- Olives are processed within two days of harvesting.

Chocolate and Wine Pairing
Waterford Wine Estate | Stellenbosch
At Waterford Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, guests are offered an extra tasting experience that does not follow the traditional sniff, swirl and sip. The 3-hour Sunset Drive experience provides a drive through the Estate's vineyards and wine tasting of the Estate wines with a light meal served on a "floating" deck among the vineyards.
Chocolate and Wine Pairing Experiences
- The estate is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and on Sundays from 10am to 3pm
- Visitors can choose from 5 unique tasting experiences
- The chocolates selected for pairing with the wines are produced by Von Geusau Fine Chocolates in Greyton, Overberg, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town. The hand made gourmet chocolates are paired with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and natural sweet wines.

Van Ryn’s Distillery| Stellenbosch
Brandy at the Van Ryn’s Distillery is paired with a diverse selection of palate tingling foods. Brandy is perfect when paired with chocolate but can be as delectable when paired with single plantation Honduran coffee and Belgian chocolate, different meats and even with cheeses. For a further treat sensation brandy cocktails are mixed using chocolate and coffee!

History and Background
- Van Ryn’s company was established in 1845 and the current distillery was started in 1905.
- Van Ryn’s brandies are twice distilled in copper potstils and then aged in air dried oak barrels.
